2008 Caucus Awardees

Uniformed PA of the Year

Patrick Williams, Capt USA

Capt. Williams was chosen as the 2008 Veterans Caucus Uniformed PA of the Year because of his gallantry in action while providing care for a wounded soldier and for his deep commitment to the physician assistant profession and the United States military. “He is a credit to himself, the United States Army and the PA profession”, said Veteran Caucus Mike Valdez prior to presenting him with his award.

Civilian PA of the Year

Michael Goodwin, PA-C

Prior to presenting Mr. Goodwin with his 2008 Civilian PA of the Year award, Veterans Caucus President Mike Valdez acknowledged his contributions through his involvement in community service, as well as, being a highly respected educator and crusader for Physician Assistant legislation.

Veterans Caucus Lifetime Achievement Award

Lt. Col. David Gwinn, USAF (Ret.)

The 2008 Veterans Caucus Lifetime Achievement Award was given posthumously to our dear friend and comrade, David “Bubba” Gwinn. In accepting the award for David, Rear Admiral Ken Moritsugu said that David was truly a healer of the heart, as well as, a healer of the body. David’s commitment to caring made him a model officer in uniform and model health professional. He was a team player, a model leader, and a mentor to us then, now and in the future. He is missed by all who knew and loved him.
